Inspired by Van Gogh: The Self Portrait Edition (Grades 4-6)
Perhaps the most famous artist in the world, Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890) had an innovative and unique artistic style that was of enormous importance to a host of artists who followed in his wake. The career of Vincent van Gogh as a painter was short, but his paintings revolutionized artistic practice and styles. The intensity of his vision, his wonderful sense of color and the extraordinary boldness of his technique created masterpieces that exercised a profound influence on the art of the twentieth century.
After taking a tour through his work, including his many self portraits, we'll no doubt be inspired to try our hand at his signature brush strokes and color palette, and create a masterwork of our own!
Artists can bring a favorite photo as a guide, or peer into the soon to be famous ArtLab Self-Portrait Launcher (aka: our big classroom mirror!) to find inspiration during our class.
*It's important to register in advance so we can prepare the creative space appropriately!
*Appropriate for grades 4-6.
*Wear something that can get messy, and/or bring a smock or shirt to cover up.
*Any other questions? Send us an e-mail or give us a call (contact info on home page).

Building Your SoulCollage® Deck (10.23.18)
Tuesday, October 23, 2018, 6-9pm
Note: Before taking this class, it is helpful to have completed Intro to SoulCollage® (at ArtLab or elsewhere), or to be familiar with the card making process and the "I Am One Who" journal exercise.
In this session, we'll start by creating cards that represent and honor people, pets, and places that have impacted our lives and helped shape our stories. (You may choose to include personal photos, drawings, etc., in addition to magazine images, so bring some along!) We'll then touch on other themes you may find useful as you build your deck.
For those interested, there will be time to try out various ways to use the cards you've created so far.
SoulCollage® is a great way to give yourself the gift of self-care and relaxation, and have fun at the same time!
